I design mental health interventions that work outside the lab: in schools, hospitals, corporates, and on people's phones. The kind of programmes that pass ethics review, get published, and move outcomes in the real world.
I came at this as both a researcher and a founder. The PhD taught me to take a behavioural science question from theory through to manualisation, trial, and publication. Building Psyche Innovations and the Positive Youth Development Foundation taught me to translate that evidence into a product, a workshop, a delivery team, and a business model. The combination is what I bring: I can design the substance of a programme and lead the team that runs it.
Cape Town based, and moving to Australia. If you work at the intersection of mental health, research, and digital health, or just want to chat, get in touch.
I work with teens, young adults, and adults who want to think more clearly, feel better, and move forward in a structured, evidence-based way, and with couples working on communication and direction. Clients range from professionals navigating stress, sleep, motivation, or life transitions, to teens and young adults working through study pressure, relationships, or confidence. I also work with organisations: workshops, talks, and training for teams that want practical psychological skills in the room, not just posters on the wall.
I am a Registered Wellness Counsellor with the ASCHP (South Africa), not a clinical psychologist or psychiatrist, and I do not provide clinical treatment; sessions cannot be claimed through medical aid. Where clinical care is the right next step, I will say so and help you find the right professional.
PhD in Research Psychology (University of Queensland, 2022). My research designs, delivers, and evaluates psychological skills interventions for young people, including pragmatic and cluster-randomised trials with adolescents in low-resource settings and adolescents with disabilities. I worked as a researcher at Stellenbosch University in the Department of Psychology and the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, collaborating with partners at UCT, Harvard, KU Leuven, and the WHO World Mental Health Survey Initiative, and I have been Principal Investigator on three international research grants.
My research has been the gateway to everything else I have built: it became the LifeMatters programme, then the Positive Youth Development Foundation, then Psyche Innovations. I also consult on research design, programme evaluation, and intervention development, from theory of change to trial to publication.

I founded and ran Psyche Innovations, a digital mental health company building smart, scalable mental health solutions for individuals, organisations, and practitioners. Our flagship product, the Psyche: Mental Health app, reached users in more than 90 countries across iOS, Android, and web.
I continue to take on scoped consulting and advisory work: clinical governance and safety architecture for digital health products, responsible AI in mental health, assessment and intervention design, research design and programme evaluation (from theory of change through trial to publication), evidence strategy, and corporate training and development programmes. If that intersects with what you are building or how your team works, start a conversation.
A registered non-profit I founded in 2019 to carry my doctoral research into the real world. The Foundation's mission is deliberately unoriginal in the best way: take evidence-based youth development programmes, refine them for the South African context, and share what works so the impact multiplies beyond us.
